We are a small company, located near Lyons, Colorado. Our passion is creating botanically-based products, which are not only pure and fresh, but also pleasing to the senses and fun to use. You won’t find anything harmful (to you or the earth) in our ingredients. Owner and formulator, Ashlee, feels that anything you put on your body should be as nourishing as what you put in it. An herbalist since 1998, Ashlee knows how important and beneficial plants are to us, and incorporates their healing properties into the products.

Our products do NOT contain parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, petroleum products, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colors or harsh preservatives. And because we care about all beings on this earth, we never conduct product or ingredient testing on animals! Some products contain ingredients from animal sources (like beeswax, honey and lanolin). And for that, we thank them! 
 
Each item is lovingly handcrafted, in small batches. We use only the highest quality
ingredients, including organic herbs (some grown right here at the Botanical Roots Garden) and carrier oils, exotic butters and waxes, and exquisite essential oils from all over the world.
We use fairly-traded shea butter (west Africa), coconut oil (Philippines), and cocoa butter
(west Africa) in our products. Supporting fair-trade organizations is another way in which we,
in our smaller communities, can make a difference in the world.

Our Name

The meaning of the name Botanical Roots is multi-level. Literally, we use botanical roots in our products. Figuratively, using herbs and herbal-based products can bring us closer to our own "botanical roots" - our connection to the earth, the plants and all the plant-loving people who came before us. We are interwoven in this herbal lineage.
